Cocoa is a small, coastal town in Brevard County, FL. Located north of the city of Rockledge, Cocoa covers a little over 15 square miles and is home to around 18,000 residents. It is known for being family-friendly.
Founded by fishermen, Cocoa saw the first settlers arrive and populate the area in 1860; it was officially incorporated in 1895. Cocoa remained a small community until the 1960s, when the development of the aeronautics and space industry in Florida quadrupled the population.
Cocoa takes pride in its past. Buildings and commercial structures dating to as far back as the 1880s have been preserved. The city’s old downtown area is now the Historic Cocoa Village, a charming tree-lined street filled with shops and restaurants. The city is also just an hour’s drive away from the popular theme parks and amusement parks in Orlando, and around 12 miles from the Kennedy Space Center and Port Canaveral in Cape Canaveral.
